Cooking Shows
While everything is shut down and we are all supposed to be staying home unless picking up essentials it is a good time to catch up on watching all the shows we are behind on.
Right now I am catching up on Chef Show by John Favreau.
I am going to tell you all cooking shows are life to me. I have been watching them since I was young. Some shows that I loved (and still love to this day) may even make you say, "what, that is so long ago, some of those are so old" but, for me that is where it's at. I remember watching Julia Child, The Frugal Gourmet, Good Eats, Jaques Pepin, Yan Can Cook, Emeril, Ace of Cakes, even something called Great Chefs; bonus if it was in my grandma's living room. I have seen every episode of Iron Chef (the original). I remember Bobby Flay's first TV appearance as a guest chef on a TV program. I even watched a local cooking show that featured John Pisto. If you don't know who Pisto is, Google him. I love the entertainment that comes with them showing you a recipe. In a way you feel like you get to know them as well. It definitely contributed to my love of cooking and baking. Thought there are many regular shows and movies I really enjoy watching, I always seem to gravitate towards cooking shows. I could watch them all day long and never get bored. That being said I feel like there have been a lot of changes to my beloved food channels. There are so many competition shows nowadays it's crazy. While having a few can be fun, it seems like there are so many of them they are all starting to look the same.
The Chef show on Netflix reminds me of everything I love about cooking shows with a little added flare. If you haven't watched it, stop everything and go check it out. The formula is great. The intros, interviews, the cooking all blend together to make a great show that could have easily taken over as one of the most popular shows back in the day. I love the banter and how they really do stop to eat and enjoy the food they make. It reminds me of all those times I was siting with my grandma watching all our favorite show and makes me want to get up and cook everything in my kitchen. It is one of those shows that inspires you to try things you wouldn't normally do. If you haven't had the chance to get on and watch it, do it now. You will be pleasantly surprised. I love how they are willing to jump in and try anything. PS there are some great guest stars. There are even a couple who were in my long lost cooking shows from back in the day. I can't recommend this show enough. I hope you go and check it out.
